SWAIN BASKETBALL AAU
I was born in Queens, N.Y. Moved to S. C. for my freshman year in high school. Played high school ball for Eau Claire H.S. (Columbia, S.C.) and Cross H.S. (Cross, S.C.).
After high school I played 4 years collegiately at Morris College in Sumter, S.C. Following my senior year at Morris I was offered an opportunity to play in Brussels, Belgium. But opted instead to begin my professional career in the workforce taking my first job as an Assistant Branch Manager for a bank that is now Wells Fargo. Additionally, the summer following my graduation I was fortunate enough to be able to compete in the Rucker League in Harlem. An experience I will treasure always.
I’ve been involved in basketball most of my life. Have coached AAU basketball for well over 25 years in numerous AAU organizations, including one of my own locally (R C Hoops). I’ve coached kids from teams (both boys and girls) ranging in ages 7U to 17U. Teams consisted of kids mostly from the local areas and schools my kids attended in both Clayton and Rockdale counties. Our best effort was in 2004 where we finished 4th in the nation in the YBOA national tournament. We always prided ourselves in how we were competitive with the well funded club teams utilizing our local talent. I love kids and enjoy teaching the game of basketball. That love for coaching and basketball has transcended down to my sons. I now play a supporting role for them as we seek to continue our family legacy rooted in love for the kids and the game of basketball.
